Bridge
Bridge is a structure that contains one or more fake teeth. The structure is anchored in place with one or more crowns on either side of the gap in the mouth .Bridge restores the function and appearance of the teeth.
These are a long term and the durable solution. These can withstand chewing forces adequately.

When is Bridge Done?
- Bridge is done, when one or more teeth are lost & there are enough adjacent teeth in good condition to take additional load
Procedure
- The teeth adjacent to the missing tooth are prepared to receive the bridge
- An impression of the prepared teeth is taken
- Custom made Bridge prepared in the lab, is then cemented on the teeth

- Inability to chew properly
- Drifting of adjacent teeth into missing tooth space
- Loss of bone at the site of missing tooth
- May alter facial appearance leading to Loss of self confidence

Types of Bridge
01.Metal bridge
They are economical, but have a metallic color. So many patients don’t like their appearance.
02. Ceramic (fused-to-metal) bridge
To address the aesthetic concerns, metals crowns are enclosed in tooth coloured ceramic. Metal provides strength and porcelain makes it look like natural teeth.
03. Zirconia Bridge
This is the latest material which does not have metallic color frame inside. It has excellent appearance and strength.
Post-treatment care
- Do not eat on the treated side for 2 days. Use the other side of the mouth.
- Do not bite on very hard things like areca nut at all
- You might feel sensitivity of teeth or soreness around your gum area; this may last only for a few days. If it is for more than a month please call us.
- Maintain a good oral hygiene routine like brushing & flossing
- Visit us every 6 months for check up, so that problems can be detected even before they occur

The cost is variable and depends on the number of teeth and material used for making it. Metal is cheapest & zirconia is most expensive.
Depends on case specifics, material, and compliance to dentist’s instructions. It may last between 5 to 10 years. Sometimes, 20 years.
After a few days of bridge placement, it will be so comfortable that it will feel like natural teeth.
